Chicago Fire‘s long run means that the Chicago Fire cast has shifted many times over the years, but not every character gets a well-respected exit. The show revolves around the intense Firehouse 51 which is home to several paramedics and firefighters who work hard to save people from life-threatening situations. In scenes elevated by the show’s stellar setting, several characters are fired from the noteworthy firehouse for being reckless in times of crisis.
The One Chicago shows feature a never-ending rotation of characters as each high-intensity situation calls for new faces and storylines. Chicago Fire is no different and has featured introductions and exits of both new and recurring characters throughout its many seasons. While the procedural has been known to kill off characters, it has also shown several characters being fired as a way to write them out of the show.

Chili Left In Season 4 To Attend Rehab

Joining Ambulance 61 to replace Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett), Chilli struggles to make friends among her coworkers until she reveals that she is an entrepreneur and has caught the attention of Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), who wants to invest in her business.
However, her character takes a turn for the worse when she becomes more erratic and partakes in inappropriate behavior with Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen). Season 4 also reveals that Chili has a problem with drinking, which is starting to affect her personal life. Chilli is fired from Firehouse 51 for drinking on the job, but the team shows their support and gives her the encouragement she needs to go to rehab. Unfortunately, her relationship with them ends there.
9.Hope Jacquinot
Hope Was Fired In Season 6 For Dishonesty
Hope Jacquinot, played by Eloise Mumford, is a significant character throughout Chicago Fire seasons 6 and 8. She was a close friend of Sylvie’s (Kara Kilmer), and while visiting her in Chicago, Hope also began a relationship with Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). However, the two break up shortly after, as Hope decides to join Firehouse 51 as a receptionist, and she does not want their relationship to interfere with her work.
Hope is eventually fired when suspicions arise due to allegations that she embezzled money from her previous workplace. When Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) starts to distrust Hope, Hope forges a signature to get Stella transferred away from Firehouse 51. When the team catches on, she is quickly relieved of her position, and Sylvie calls her a bad friend.
Hope returns in season 8 as a minor character when she and Sylvie accidentally bump into each other. While their meeting starts off awkward, both Sylvie and Hope warm up to each other and remind themselves of their past friendship. Jack Was Fired In Season 13 For Disobeying
Chicago Fire‘s Jack Damon is a firefighter played by Michael Bradway in seasons 12 and 13. He first joins Firehouse 51 as a temporary replacement for Derrick Gibson (Rome Flynn), but he has previous experience from his work on Truck 81. The Chicago Fire season 12 finale excitingly revealed that Jack is Kelly’s step-brother, which upped the ante for his character.
Jack would rather try to impress Kelly than follow a direct order for the safety of himself and others.
Bradway’s time on the show was cut short when Jack was fired in Chicago Fire season 13. The previous season sets up Jack’s perspective of Kelly, seeing him as a role model. Unfortunately, this means that Jack would rather try to impress Kelly than follow a direct order for the safety of himself and others. When he disrespects Stella by ignoring her command, Chief Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) has no choice but to fire him.
7.Chad Collins
Chad Was Fired In Season 8 For His Behavior
Chad Collins, played by Austin Peck, is a paramedic on Chicago Fire in the first two episodes of season 8. He is a replacement for Kara Kilmer’s Sylvie Brett after she is injured in a fire and has to be placed on temporary leave. He is assigned to work with Ambulance 61 for the majority of his appearances. However, he ends up only being a minor character in the bigger picture of Chicago Fire.
Chad is fired shortly after he first appears on the show for his inappropriate behavior in the ambulance. While working with Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh), he acts childishly and does not have the professional mannerisms required for the position. In such an intense and dangerous work environment, everyone needs to be perfectly competent and serious about their work. As a result, Chad is kicked off the ambulance and has not appeared on Chicago Fire since.
6.Jared Lennox
Jared’s Departure Gave Boden The Upper Hand
Jared Lennox is a paramedic played by Wesam Keesh, who appears sporadically throughout Chicago Fire season 12. He also joins Firehouse 51 as a replacement for Sylvie, and he is placed there specifically by Danya Robinson (Laura Allen) to report any misdemeanors. While Jared has good intentions, his values of following the rules and ratting out others make him disliked by the other Firehouse 51 members. As a result, Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) removes him from the 51 team, but not without warning him about Robinson.
Jared is eventually fired when he gives a patient under distress a sedative. When he is reported, he is surprised that Robinson fires him instead of giving him a warning. Despite the quick turnover, Jared’s departure turns out to be useful to Boden, as Jared comes back to tell Boden that when the Deputy Commissioner retires, Robinson will be seeking the position.

Despite Emma’s departure from Chicago Fire‘s Firehouse 51, she returns in season 11 as an IAD investigator. Her storyline centers around the investigation behind a complaint against Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). Meanwhile, Violet accidentally uncovers Emma’s blackmail plan and brings the evidence to Emma’s new boss, who subsequently fires her.
4.Keith Bamford
Keith Went Too Far In Season 11

However, Keith’s coworkers at Firehouse 51 quickly grow weary of his antics, resulting in another case of someone being fired because of workplace standards.
Keith is fired after taking one joke too far and ignoring his coworkers’ social cues. He had previously been warned by Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) to lighten up on the jokes as he was starting to irritate many of his coworkers. Despite the warning, Keith continued his behavior and he became one of several actors who left Chicago Fire after he made a joke about Herrmann’s (David Eigenberg) wife, who was battling cancer at the time.
3.Patrick “Pat” Pridgen
Pat Was Fired In Season 3 After A Dangerous Decision
Patrick “Pat” Pridgen is a temporary replacement for Boden as Firehouse 51’s chief in season 3. Pat had previously run Firehouse 17, which was known as being one of the worst firehouses in the city, as a result of Pat’s command. Expectations are hardly high for him to temporarily take over; he then fails to get along with the regular team of Chicago Fire when he only continuously insults them.
Pat is then relieved of his command when a colleague shows up support to Kelly, which confirms Pat’s dishonesty.
Pat is dismissed from his role as chief after he redirected Truck 81 away from a fire and then lied about it to save face. Pat tries to blame Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), but Kelly refuses to corroborate his story and instead gives his own truthful statement. Pat is then relieved of his command when a colleague shows up support to Kelly, which confirms Pat’s dishonesty.
2.Scott Rice
Scott Left In Season 3 Under Unfortunate Circumstances
Scott Rice is a firefighter who appears as a major character in the latter half of season 3. Played by Warren Christie, Scott is also good friends with Kelly. Scott joins Firehouse 51 after a prolonged leave of absence following the death of his wife, which left him to raise their child on his own. The rest of the Firehouse 51 crew is uncomfortable around Scott as there were rumors that he threw a patient out of a window while he was at work.
The crew’s distrust of Scott increases when Scott is seen running away from a fire. Later, Scott claims that his equipment was not working and that he sent it for repair. However, when Kelly checks in at the repair shop, he learns that Scott never brought anything in. Scott later reveals that he was scared to die and leave his child alone, and he is not ready for firefighting. As a result, Kelly is sympathetic towards his situation but still knows Scott has to be fired.
1.Spellman
Spellman Left In Season 2 For Spying
While Spellman is a minor character in Chicago Fire season 2, he represents the tense bureaucratic betrayal that is often present in procedurals. Played by John Hoogenakker, Spellman is a firefighter who is brought into Firehouse 51 alongside Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner). Unlike many of the characters who were quickly fired, he was not hired as a temporary replacement for another character and was dismissed for more complicated reasons.
The two firefighters came from Firehouse 33, which was shut down by Michelle Forbes’s Gail McLeod. However, Gail reaches out to both Spellman and Jeff to spy for her. While Jeff denies her request, Spellman accepts and gives her information on Firehouse 51 throughout his time in Chicago Fire season 2. When Spellman’s activities are discovered, he is angrily fired by Chief Boden.
