10 Station 19 Characters Who Could Easily Transition to Grey’s Anatomy

While we’re still holding out hope that ABC might reverse its decision to cancel Station 19 after its seventh season, we’ve come up with a way to keep the beloved first responders alive — by crossing key characters over to the flagship series, Grey’s Anatomy.

We’d love to see all our favorite firefighters get their due, but let’s face it: some characters are destined for the hospital, not the firehouse. After all, Captain Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) swapping her fire helmet for a stethoscope might seem a little far-fetched — but there are plenty of other Station 19 characters who could seamlessly make the jump to Grey’s Anatomy. Here’s how we think they could fit in, along with some ideas that could give them a new life in Seattle’s most famous hospital.

1. Ben WarrenStation 19 fans spot 'sneaky' Carina and Maya detail in latest episode - did you notice it? | HELLO!

Character: Ben Warren (Jason George)
Since Ben Warren started on Grey’s Anatomy, transitioning him back to Grey Sloan would be a no-brainer. He’s already part of the hospital’s history as a former surgeon, and his connection with Miranda Bailey makes him a logical addition. Given his concerns over the dangers of being a firefighter, it makes sense that he might opt to return to the OR full-time or even become a surgical resident once again. With the adoption of Dean’s daughter, Pru, Ben’s already feeling the weight of a new responsibility, and moving back to medicine might be his best move.

2. Carina DeLuca

Character: Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato)
Carina DeLuca was originally introduced on Grey’s Anatomy, and though she’s a Station 19 regular now, her connection to Grey Sloan still runs deep. Carina is an OB/GYN, and bringing her back to the hospital would not only provide more screen time for the character, but also tap into her complicated history with Owen and Amelia. The hospital could use another skilled doctor, especially if they’re willing to explore her more colorful personal life.

3. Maya Bishop

Character: Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre)
While we might not want Maya to give up being a firefighter, she could make a seamless transition into medicine. As a new mom, Maya might decide to pursue medical school, with an eye on becoming a trauma surgeon. With her determination and high-stakes firefighting experience, she would thrive in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of Grey Sloan Memorial, and the trauma unit could use another fierce, passionate doctor.

4. Jack Gibson

Character: Jack Gibson (Grey Damon)
After suffering multiple head injuries, Jack had to leave his firefighting career behind. But Grey’s Anatomy has always been a bit light on nurses, and Jack has the experience and compassion to make a strong, caring addition to Grey Sloan’s staff. After a stint in dispatch, Jack might decide to pursue nursing — a profession that’s definitely in need of a strong personality like his. It would be a nice way to see him channel his years of experience helping people in a different context.

5. Vic HughesMaya & Carina | Their story [Station 19 s3-5]

Character: Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss)
With Crisis One defunded, Vic might need to find a new career direction. Given her drive and commitment to helping others, she could look to fund Crisis One at Grey Sloan Memorial, with the help of Jackson Avery, who could put some money behind it. As part of the hospital’s team, Vic could use her skills to help the community, and it would provide a natural crossover with the hospital’s ongoing efforts to improve patient care.

6. Sean Beckett

Character: Sean Beckett (Josh Randall)
Sean’s calm, level-headed demeanor under pressure would make him a great addition to Grey Sloan, especially if Crisis One were to move under the hospital’s umbrella. As a recovering alcoholic, Sean could join the hospital’s support network, perhaps working with Richard and Amelia. Plus, with his connection to Vic, there’s the potential for a blossoming relationship that we could see unfold on-screen.

7. Diane Lewis

Character: Diane Lewis (Tracie Thoms)
Tracie Thoms, who has bounced between Station 19 and 9-1-1, could easily slide into Grey’s Anatomy as a hospital psychologist. The hospital has needed a character like Diane for years — someone who specializes in the mental health of doctors, nurses, and staff. Diane could offer much-needed support to characters like Meredith, Bailey, and even Amelia as they navigate their high-stress lives.

8. Travis Montgomery

Character: Travis Montgomery (Jay Hayden)
Having run for mayor, Travis could decide that he’s had enough of politics and wants to get back to medicine. Perhaps he decides to transition to the hospital as an EMT or even a new intern. Working at Grey Sloan could help him rediscover his passion for serving the community — and it would definitely open up new storylines with characters like Levi, who could bond over their shared experiences.

9. Theo Ruiz

Character: Theo Ruiz (Carlos Miranda)
While Theo’s character was often seen as a polarizing figure in Station 19, there is potential for redemption. If he finds his way back into good graces with fans, he could make an interesting addition to Grey’s Anatomy as an EMT working with a private ambulance company. This could lead to more interaction with Grey’s doctors and nurses as they collaborate on trauma cases, though we’d prefer that he leave “Chaos Kate” behind!

10. Kitty Dixon

Character: Kitty Dixon (Tricia O’Kelley)
Though Kitty Dixon has never been the most central character, Tricia O’Kelley’s portrayal of the perpetually tipsy widow has always been entertaining. Imagine her being brought on as a quirky, offbeat addition to the Catherine Fox Foundation. Her deadpan humor and jaded perspective could add a refreshing dose of levity to Grey’s Anatomy, especially when paired with the likes of Richard and Catherine.

Final Thoughts:

While we’d obviously love to keep Station 19 alive and kicking, it’s good to know that many of the characters from the first-responders drama can still find a home on Grey’s Anatomy. Whether it’s through medical careers, personal growth, or new relationships, these characters have plenty of stories left to tell in the world of Grey’s. Which ones would you like to see crossover?
