17 ‘Yellowstone’ Quotes That’ll Take You Right Down To The Ranch
The cowboys and cowgirls of old-fashioned Western TV shows, along with the enemies they squared off against (sometimes among themselves), were known for not only their grit, but also their colorful language. The popular drama Yellowstone, although set in today’s times, is equally full of pithy and quotable characters. Whether it’s John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) serious, no-nonsense statements, or Beth Dutton’s (Kelly Reilly) scathing remarks against those she despises, there’s a lot of meaty material here.
The writers for the series give the denizens of Montana, the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, and the Broken Rock Indian Reservation plenty of witty words that stick with you long after the lines are uttered. So saddle on up and take a trip down to the ranch to live out the Dutton’s family’s twisted bid for supremacy.
‘You Know, When You Boil Life Down, It’s Funny Just How Little You Need, Isn’t It?’
Rip is a simple man with a wise mind. To him, all a person needs in life is what fulfills them rather than any material possessions. During a morning with Beth, he joins her on the porch as she looks at the ranch with melancholy. Beth ponders the future, ruing that future generations won’t have this ranch because of the troubles they’re facing. In response, Rip contends that people a century ago on the same reservation had the same worries, yet here they were as the future generation. According to him, being with the people you want to be with is enough, so there’s little else a person needs.
‘The Only Thing I Ask Is That You Outlive Me, So I Never Live Another Day Without You.’
The few times Beth shows a sensitive side is when she’s in Rip’s company. For a character who can be cold-blooded at times, she displays a certain warmth around him. One of these moments is when she tells Rip she wants to marry him. Beth hands Rip the ring, telling him she’s already settled the matter with her father, meaning all that’s left is for him to propose. Rather than ask for a life together, Beth asks that he outlive her because she doesn’t want to be in a world without him in it. It might feel a bit out of character, but Beth certainly delivers one of the more heartwarming scenes in Yellowstone.
‘A Man Who Puts A Hand On A Member Of My Family Never Puts A Hand On Anything Else.’
Jamie is not a favored member of the Dutton family, but he handles things in similar ways. To win the support of an embittered father whose daughter has been maltreated, Jamie arrives with retribution handled. Jamie shows the father the blood of the men responsible, asking for his loyalty in return, claiming he’s done it for all the fathers who haven’t been able to gain justice. To make his point clearer, he invokes his own family, saying that anybody who lays hands on them won’t live long.
