‘Boston Blue’: Will Baez move to Boston permanently in season 2?

Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) finally get together, but Danny’s sudden move to Boston in Boston Blue plunges them into a long-distance relationship that neither New Yorker anticipated. The difficulties of a long-distance relationship were shown in season 1 of the Blue Bloods spin-off series through scenes where Baez makes it clear she doesn’t want to leave her hometown. Meanwhile, long-time Blue Bloods fans are eager to see Ramirez appear more frequently in the series. With Boston Blue being renewed, what are the chances of Ramirez starring in season 2?
We asked Boston Blue creators Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis this question directly.
“It’s a completely possible scenario,” Sonnier told us.
Soninier added that Danny and Baez living together in Boston “is entirely possible.” Margolis replied, “Even crazier things than that have happened before.”
In Boston Blue, Danny takes a position at the Boston Police Department and is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent family in law enforcement. The Silver family includes Boston District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), Boston Police Department Detective Lena Silver, Police Chief Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson), rookie officer Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner), and renowned Baptist Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson). As Reagan settles into his new city, he also hopes to reconnect with his youngest son, Sean (Mika Amonsen), who is beginning his career in Boston.
Danny commits to the Boston Police Department (BPD) by returning his NYPD badge and taking on cases as a lead detective. As he and Sean continue to build their lives in Boston, the audience will also learn more about the Silver family. The Reagan and Silver families will be welcoming Grandpa Reagan (Len Cariou) in an episode in April, and Holly Robinson Peete will debut as Jill, Mae’s sister, later this season. Margolis and Sonnier also revealed to TV Insider that Jamie (Will Estes), Eddie (Vanessa Ray), and their newborn child might appear.
“There’s a good chance we’ll see the baby in season 1 of Boston Blue,” Margolis said.
