“The Rookie” Season 7: Glasser in jail, but still “spreading” terror?

The Rookie season 7, episode 8 ends with Seth Gabel’s Liam Glasser behind bars, but, hopefully, this won’t be the last time we see him. The ABC police procedural TV series has had its fair share of villains over the years, some more impactful than others. As for Glasser, he is undoubtedly one of the best antagonists the show has had in a while. However, if he is to cement himself among the greats (like Rosalind Dyer and Nick Armstrong), the Rookie season 7 character must continue his story after “Wildfire.”

The Rookie season 7, episode 5 introduces Glasser as a suspect in a serial killer case. After chatting with Glasser, Harper knows it’s him. Thanks to a confession from another person, though, and the lack of evidence implicating Glasser in the murders, she can’t arrest him. Harper has kept her eye on him ever since, and her hard work finally pays off in episode 8. Glasser manages to slip away during the wildfires, but the characters track him down and save his next victim (thanks to a tip from his wife). Now, Glasser is in jail, and his story is seemingly over.

Seth Gabel’s Glasser Can Continue To Be A Villain Like Rosalind Dyer Was

Rosalind Was In Prison For Most Of Her Arc

Despite Glasser’s arrest, season 7 could easily continue his villain arc. After all, The Rookie’s best villain, Rosalind Dyer, was in prison for the majority of her time on the show. Rosalind (and Oscar Hutchinson for that matter) proved that antagonists don’t need to be free to be intriguing and have compelling stories in the ABC police procedural series. Glasser can simply follow in her footsteps.

The Rookie season 7 has many ways to extend Glasser’s arc with him still behind bars. Similar to Rosalind, he could have an accomplice on the outside helping him. Or a copycat could start killing people. There is also the chance that Glasser’s trial somehow results in him being found not guilty. Whatever the reasoning might be, The Rookie has to bring Seth Gabel’s character back.

Why The Rookie Season 7 Needs To Bring Back Glasser

Glasser’s Story Still Has A Lot Of Potential

As proven in The Rookie season 7, episode 8, Seth Gabel’s Glasser has the potential to be one of the show’s best villains since La Fiera. However, a two-episode arc won’t place him among the show’s iconic Big Bads. So, the ABC police procedural series must take advantage of Gabel’s talent and continue his character’s story. The menacing look Glasser gives Harper towards the end of “Wildfire” could suggest we haven’t seen the last of him in The Rookie, and, hopefully, that turns out to be the case.
