Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore Team Up for Prime Video’s Explosive New Thriller ‘The Assassin’

Prime Video is set to launch an electrifying new thriller, The Assassin, starring Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor). This gripping six-part series, created by acclaimed writers Harry and Jack Williams (The Tourist), promises a suspenseful mix of action, drama, and mystery set against the breathtaking backdrop of Greece.

Hawes takes on the role of Julie, a former assassin who has left her deadly past behind to live a quiet life on a remote Greek island. However, her peace is shattered when her estranged son Edward, played by Highmore, unexpectedly arrives, seeking answers about his father. Their reunion quickly turns dangerous as Julie’s past catches up with her, forcing mother and son into a perilous fight for survival. As they navigate through deadly threats, they must also confront the deep wounds of their fractured relationship.

The series boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Gina Gershon, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jack Davenport, Alan Dale, Devon Terrell, Richard Dormer, and David Dencik. Filming began in August 2024 in Greece, taking full advantage of the country’s stunning landscapes to add authenticity and tension to the story.
