‘Everything Is Good’: ‘FBI’ Star Shares Exciting Update on Long-Missing Character

FBI star Zeeko Zaki has addressed the likelihood the show will bring back his character Omar Adom “OA” Zidan’s sister Amira. Cynthia Hamidi originally played Amira in Season 1 of the CBS procedural.

Viewers learned early in FBI‘s run that, since the Zidan children lost their father at a young age, they developed a dysfunctional relationship. OA admitted he and Amira had a strained relationship as adults because he’d acted more like a father than a brother to her while growing up.

FBI Star Addresses Possible Return of OA’s Sister Amira

Speaking to TVLine, Zaki revealed that, while there are no plans yet for Amira to return, there is a reference to the character “in the episode we’re filming now.” The actor wouldn’t give away the context of the reference, but he insisted “everything is good” with Amira.

Amira first appeared in the FBI season one episode “A New Dawn,” where it was revealed that she was a student at Paul Revere University and working as a reporter for her school’s newspaper, The Daily Pru. OA resisted help from Amira on his investigation into a radicalized group of potential terrorists operating on her university campus.

However, Amira’s insider knowledge proved to be key in helping OA and his partner Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym) stop the group from detonating a bomb. In the end, OA and Amira found common ground and parted on much better terms.

The show last featured Amira in an uncredited cameo in the Season 4 episode “Unfinished Business,” airing in December 2021, where she was shown speaking with OA on the phone. Viewers learned that Amira had graduated from college and had officially enrolled in graduate school.

FBI Was Created for CBS by Legendary Producer Dick Wolf

FBI Originally Premiered on September 25, 2018 on CBS

Dick Wolf teamed up with co-showrunner Craig Turk to create a procedural drama based on the inner workings of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York City field office.
The success of FBI launches two spinoff procedures, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International.
Most Wanted and International were both canceled in March 2025 as part of an overhaul of CBS’s primetime lineup.
CBS is developing a new spinoff titled FBI: CIA, which will center around a Joint FBI/CIA Taskforce fighting terrorism.
Hamidi has since gone on to voice the comic book hero Dawnstar in two DC Animated Movie Universe features, 2023’s Legion of Super-Heroes and 2024’s Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One. The animated role was a lofty one, as Dawnstar is an extremely important character in Superboy’s DC Comics lore and as a member of the 30th century super-team the Legion of Super-Heroes.

As for FBI, while there may not be an on-screen appearance from Hamidi in the works at the moment, the CBS series has recently cast another veteran of DC Comics media in Tom Cavanagh for season 7. The actor will be playing Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille’s husband, Phillip, in upcoming episodes.

Cavanagh memorably played Eobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash in The CW’s The Flash, along with several less-threatening doppelgangers throughout the show’s nine season run. He had early success with sitcom roles in Ed and Scrubs, before joining The Flash in its first season.

His initial character, Harrison Wells, appears to be a genius from Earth-1 who offered to mentor Barry Allen as he came to grips with his superhero powers. Later, it was revealed that Wells was actually the evil speedster Reverse-Flash in disguise, as he’d killed the real Wells and stole his identity. Matt Letscher later played a more traditional version of Eobard Thawne / The Reverse-Flash throughout the Arrowverse.
