World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay is best known for his fiery temper in the kitchen, but when it comes to parenting, he’s all heart—and a little wiser these days. In a recent interview, Ramsay opened up about fatherhood, revealing that he believes he’s a “better dad” to his younger children than he was to his older ones.
The father of six reflected on how much he’s grown over the years, both personally and professionally. With his older kids now in their twenties, Ramsay admitted that when he first became a father, he was still deeply immersed in building his restaurant empire. Time was tight, and his focus was split between work and home.
“Back then, I was constantly on the move,” Ramsay shared. “I was chasing stars, opening restaurants, filming nonstop. I didn’t always have the balance right.”
Now, with his youngest children—particularly toddler Jesse, born in 2023—he’s taking a different approach. Ramsay says he’s more present, more patient, and far more aware of how fleeting the early years are.
“I know how fast it goes. With Jesse, I find myself soaking in the little things—storytime, bath time, even the late-night wake-ups. I didn’t appreciate those moments as much before,” he admitted.
The MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen star also praised his wife Tana Ramsay for being the anchor of their family, crediting her with keeping things grounded even during his most chaotic years.
While some fans were surprised by the softer side of the famously intense chef, many parents could relate. It’s not uncommon for people to feel they’ve improved over time as parents, learning from earlier experiences and growing into the role with maturity.
In the end, Ramsay’s revelation is a reminder that even the busiest among us can find their rhythm—and that it’s never too late to become the parent you always wanted to be.
