Celina is fighting back against her trauma becoming a story.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek at this week’s episode of The Rookie, Celina (Lisseth Chavez) finds herself in an unexpected situation when a famous true crime podcaster named Heather, turns her sister’s tragic murder into a special episode.
Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) is folding laundry and listening to Mad About Murder, a fictional true crime podcast, when Celina comes home with a box of fresh pastries.

As she nears the end of the episode, her face drops when Heather tells listeners, “Next week I’ll be releasing a premium edition podcast, the shocking true story of officer Joel Chambers, and his brutal murder of three little girls — a crime so horrible, it inspired the sister of one victim, Celina Juarez, to become a cop herself.”
Celina Juarez joined the ranks at Mid-Wilshire PD during Season 5 as John Nolan’s (Nathan Fillion) first rookie. When she was nine years old, her younger sister Bianca was kidnapped from their front yard by LAPD officer John Chambers. Though she was ultimately found, she died in the hospital weeks later.
In the clip, the camera settles onto an unsuspecting Celina before the scene transitions into the duo barging into Heather’s production studio in demand of answers.
“Look I totally support your anger. I just want you to lose control,” Lucy says with concern before Celina asks, “Do I look like I’ve lost control?” as she flashes her police badge to bypass the podcaster’s assistant.
As Celina looks around the studio, Heather’s assistant informs her that the host is actively recording…but then Celina hears a familiar voice in the background.
“Mami?” she says, confronting her mother in the middle of her interview in Spanish.
Celina helps her mother gather her things and leads her toward the doors when Heather stops to introduce herself, and admits she’s been trying to reach her regarding the special episode.
“I’d love to interview you sometime about your memories of the day your sister disappeared,” Heather smiles. “You have such a fascinating story.”
“It’s not a story. It’s my life, and my sister’s murder is not entertainment,” Celina fires back before Lucy reminds her that their conversation is still being recorded.
