Following the conclusion of his long-running role as Commissioner Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, actor Tom Selleck may already have his next big move lined up — and it’s exactly what fans have been hoping for.
In a recent interview, Selleck revealed that he is seriously considering a return to the role of Jesse Stone, the troubled small-town police chief he portrayed in a series of popular TV movies based on the novels by Robert B. Parker. He also shared that he’s been working on a new script for the potential next installment.
“There’s still a lot to explore with Jesse,” Selleck explained. “He’s a complicated character with unfinished business.”
The Jesse Stone film series, which originally aired on CBS and later moved to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, garnered a devoted fanbase thanks to its gritty storytelling and Selleck’s deeply emotional performance. The most recent entry, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, aired in 2015 — and fans have been eager for more ever since.
Adding to the excitement, Selleck also expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Taylor Sheridan, the powerhouse behind Yellowstone and 1883. Selleck mentioned he misses working on westerns and would love the opportunity to ride horses and return to his cowboy roots on-screen.
“I’d be honored to work with Taylor. He’s creating the kind of stories I love — layered, grounded, and rooted in the American West,” Selleck said.
With the end of Blue Bloods after 14 successful seasons, Selleck’s future projects are being closely watched — and a return to Jesse Stone, combined with a potential western collaboration with Sheridan, could mark an exciting new chapter in his legendary career.
