Deadline reports that National Treasure: Edge of History actor Lisette Olivera is departing FBI, with her exit occurring before her character even debuts on-screen. The actor is set to portray Syd Ortiz, a trained Behavioral Analysis Unit Agent who joins the agency’s New York field office criminal division. Her character will still debut during the November 12th episode as planned, and the episodes that she has filmed will still be part of season 7.
Ortiz was planned as the new partner for Scola (John Boyd), taking over the void created by Wallace’s exit. So far, as part of FBI season 7, Scola has had a few potential partners. Although she was intended as a permanent partner, the latest update means that Boyd’s temporary partners will continue for a bit longer. It’s unclear at this point if and when the CBS show plans to bring in a permanent replacement.
Sources make clear that Olivera’s early exit is not a reflection of her work. It’s more the case, according to sources, that the character was not the right fit for the series. According to Deadline‘s reporting, Olivera may have been miscast for the role of an FBI Special Agent which would have required a lot of life experience for the 25-year-old performer.
