Tracker Season 2 is about to start the second half of its season. There has been no word on whether CBS plans to renew it for another season. However, with the high ratings, there is almost no doubt a renewal will come sooner rather than later. With that in mind, star Justin Hartley is already looking ahead at the third season, expecting it to take place.
Here is what Justin said about his character – Colter – and what fans can expect from Tracker Season 3.
Justin Hartley Teases Tracker Season 3
Justin Hartley has big ideas for his character of Colter in Tracker Season 3. While CBS has not renewed the show for a third season yet, it remains one of the most-watched scripted television shows on TV today. As a result, CBS will surely want to bring it back and keep building on the mythology that has been built so far.
Tracker follows Justin Hartley’s Colter as he helps find people that the basic law enforcement agencies can’t. It is that mystery that each episode is mostly based upon. However, at the same time, the show also focuses on Colter’s mysterious past. Someone killed his father years ago. His brother and sister are both hiding things. Colter, himself, has a lot of growing to do.
When asked about the show’s future, Hartley was most interested in talking about Colter and his character’s development. He compared it to Rockford Files, a classic detective TV show that starred James Garner. According to Hartley, “we do develop the character going forward.”
“if we’re lucky enough to do a third season, a fourth season, a fifth season, a sixth season, that would be wonderful,” he said (via TV Insider).
What Will Happen To Colter In Future Tracker Seasons?
According to Justin Hartley, Colter will keep learning more, and his character will continue to grow. “As competent and confident as Colter is, I don’t at all think for a second that he doesn’t have a ton to learn, especially about himself and his family and all that,” Justin said.
Hartley said the show, moving forward, will be on “a long runway.” He said that means it will keep developing Colter’s character so he gets better and better at what he does to help people. “He’s a restless man, and for an audience member, at least shows that I love to watch, you love to see that growth of a character and we have that,” he finished.
Tracker returns with the second half of Season 2 on February 16.
