Tracker Season 2 Image Teases the Return of a Major Shaw Family Member

A new image from Tracker season 2 reveals the return of a crucial Shaw family member. The breakout CBS drama, which is based on The Never Game novel by Jeffrey Deaver, sees Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw find missing persons and solve mysterious cases for a reward. But there is a running thread related to Colter’s father, Asher, who died under mysterious circumstances, and it has not been solved. The story implicates Colter’s brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles), and his sister Dory (Melissa Roxburgh). It’s still a major factor, heading into the already-renewed Tracker season 3.

A new image from TV Insider reveals the return of Dory, with Roxburgh and Hartley sharing a scene. Roxburgh will reprise her role as Dory in season 2’s penultimate episode, which airs Sunday, May 4, on CBS at 8 PM ET. The photo highlights that Dory is in Colter’s trailer, perhaps giving her brother an expression that’s not so impressed. Check it below:

What To Expect From Dory’s Tracker Return

Colter’s Sister Pushes The Mystery Along

Roxburgh, known for her role in Manifest, in addition to currently leading NBC’s The Hunting Party, will appear in the episode titled “Rules of the Game.” Reenie (Fiona Rene) asks for Colter’s help when the assistant of Leonard Sharf (Pej Vahdat) is abducted. This dark turn happens just as Sharf prepares to launch his new business. But on the personal front, Dory delivers something mysterious connected to the Shaw family. Dory last appeared in Tracker season 1, episode 11, “Beyond the Campus Walls

Colter Shaw’s Family in Tracker Season 1
Actor Who They Play Notes
Jensen Ackles Russell Shaw Colter’s older brother.
Melissa Roxburgh Dory Shaw Colter’s younger sister.
Wendy Crewson Mary Dove Shaw Colter’s mother.
Lee Tergesen Ashton Shaw Colter’s father.

Flashbacks have revealed Colter’s unusual upbringing. His dad, Ashton (played by Lee Tergesen), took his wife and kids to live in a compound and exhibited extreme paranoia. This all reached a head when Ashton died. For a long time, Colter suspected that his brother Russell might have been involved in their father’s death. However, when Ackles had guest appearances in the Tracker cast, the brothers get along overall.

With the death of Colter Shaw’s father – Ashton Shaw – serving as a central narrative of Tracker season 1, it’s natural to wonder what happened.

The chemistry between Hartley and Ackles, who has a busy slate between Prime Video’s Countdown and returning as Soldier Boy in The Boys franchise, doesn’t solve Ashton’s death. Their mother, Mary Dove Shaw (Wendy Crewson), previously tried to keep the brothers apart. Considering that it’s the penultimate episode and Roxburgh’s second appearance as Dory, perhaps the story will finally move in the direction that it’s meant to go in.

Our Take On Dory’s Return

It Wouldn’t Hurt To Speed It Up

The team behind Tracker includes Hartley, who executive produces alongside Ken Olin, Ben H. Winters, Elwood Reid, and Sharon Lee Watson. They’ve helped turn the 20th Television production into a big hit for CBS. But there’s a case to be made that the series should move on from its middle state and finally reveal the cards it is holding.
