Deon Richmond: From ‘The Cosby Show’ Star to Cancer Survivor – A Journey of Resilience

Former child star Deon Richmond, best known for playing Kenny, a.k.a. “Bud” on The Cosby Show (NBC, 1986-1992). He would later portray Jordan Bennett on the ABC/The WB sitcom Sister, Sister. Nominated for two Young Artist Awards, winning once in 1989, Richmond has never stopped acting and is going strong today.

A Closer Look

Deon Richman was born on June 2, 1978, in New York, New York. He was first scene on in the 1985 “Cherish” music video for Kool & the Gang, and in TV commercials for Burger King and McDonalds.

In 1986, Richmond made his debut as Kenny/Bud on The Cosby Show, and was later seen in Spike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues now-classic feature film.

Richman’s additional TV appearances include Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper and Sister, Sister, while his most recent small screen shots have been in the TV-movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas, and That Show Called Arif.

Richman recent big screen films include Bad Connection, adding to his previous motion pictures Scream 3National Lampoon’s Van Wilder and Adam Green’s Hatchet.

Behind the scenes, Richmond is a cancer survivor/thriver, and an entrepreneur. He owns a home solar energy company, and has twin children.

Lasting Impression

Unlike too many former child stars, before, during, and after his lifetime, Deon Richman continues to enjoy a good life and career into adulthood.
