GOOD-BYE FRIEND The Good Doctor mourns late show member Paul Lukaitis with Season 7 premiere tribute after his tragic death in late 2023

The medical drama mourned Paul Lukaitis with a touching tribute at the end of the Season 7 premiere episode.

The Good Doctor aired the first episode of its last season on Tuesday.

In the premiere, Shaun and Lea tried to figure out parenthood with their newborn son, Steve.

Dr. Murphy saved the lives of two infant patients at the hospital.
Paul worked on over 100 episodes of the drama before his death

Drs. Glassman and Lim were appointed co-presidents of San Jose St. Bonaventure, after Dr. Marcus Andrews resignation.
In the end, Glassman got to spend time with his grandson.

After the sweet moment, the show ended and the words, “In Loving Memory of Paul Lukaitis,” on a black screen.

Paul was not a cast member on the show, but a production manager who tragically died off set.

He worked on most of the series, totaling 100 episodes before his death.
Paul was born in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada, to Martin and Ellen (Jensen) Lukaitis.

Before he got into TV production, he worked as a logger and constructed high-rise buildings.

Paul left behind a wife, Margaret, and their daughter, Eva.

The Good Doctor is set to end after this season concludes this year

Aside from The Good Doctor, Paul also worked on shows such as Charmed, Timeless, and Wayward Pines.

GOOD-BYE DOCTOR
Before Season 7 premiered, ABC announced that this would be the last season of The Good Doctor.

The drama stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who uses his incredible talents to save lives working at the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.

“Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life,” Freddie, 31, said in a statement, after news of the cancelation.

“I will always be grateful to (executive producers) David, Liz, and Erin as well as the hugely talented – and lovely – cast, writers, and crew who made this show possible.”
“Caring deeply is what got us here. Thank you to Sony and ABC, and to everyone who has watched along at home. With love from Vancouver,” he went on.

Freddie ended the statement on a light note, calling for “Tequila, stat!”
