Since Station 19’s Ross is heading for a wedding, it was inevitable that we’d get to meet at least some of her family. And in Thursday’s episode of the sadly cancelled ABC drama (at 10/9c), Lost vet Yunjin Kim makes the first of her two appearances as Jeonghee “Jinny” Lee, the bride’s “full Korean sister,” per the network.
The character is described as being “very cross-cultural, well-educated and living full-time in Korea. She’s a woman at a crossroads and not comfortable with that uncertainty, so she spends her time fully knowing what everyone else should be doing with their lives.” Ross is sure to react well to that, eh?
In addition to playing Sun-Hwa Kwon on Lost, Kim was a regular on ABC’s Mistresses and currently stars on Netflix’s Money Heist: Korea and To All the Boys offshoot XO Kitty. She will return to the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff for its series finale. Per the show’s official logline for Thursday’s episode, “Give It All” finds the crew responding to a call at a local park, only to have their assumptions challenged by the Tulalip Tribe when they arrive. Meanwhile, Maya confronts her past, and Carina goes on the offense.
After ABC acquired 9-1-1 from Fox, it pulled the plug on Station 19, blindsiding the cast and new showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige, who had just begun work on their first season in charge. “There were a lot of things [in the works] that we were thinking would be leading into Season 8,” Clack told TVLine in March. After the axe fell, “it was like, ‘OK, either we don’t tell that story or we squish it way down and tell it in two episodes instead of as a season-long arc.’”
