Colter’s (Justin Hartley) job takes him to many places all over the country, which is a convenient excuse for why he rarely goes home. However, in the Tracker Season 2 finale, a case forces him to return to Echo Ridge, where he grew up. “Colter returns to Echo Ridge to investigate a diner owner’s disappearance, only to uncover a decades-old kidnapping and a shocking family secret,” reads the logline for Tracker Season 2, Episode 20, “Echo Ridge.” His homecoming throws him directly into the mysteries surrounding his family while investigating a kidnapping that occurred a long time ago. CBS released images from the episode, showing Colter’s exploits in Echo Ridge. He reunites with his mother, and he seeks answers. Wendy Crewson returns as Colter’s mother, Mary Dove Shaw.
Most of Echo Ridge is covered by trees and vegetation, as shown by the images below. Colter and his siblings grew up inside this area, and he knows the ins and outs. A reunion between Colter and someone familiar is teased, even though it doesn’t start smoothly. Drew Powell, Diego Stredel, and Jack Kingsley guest-star as Joe, Pedro, and Carter, respectively. Colter seems to have a cordial relationship with the men, Joe especially, but that can be attributed to Colter’s ability to earn the trust of even the most skeptical. Meanwhile, some Shaw family drama is on the horizon as Colter catches up with his mother at home, and the vibe is tense. Colter has been digging more into his family’s past, and he still has answers that Mary Dove can provide. The question is: will she?
‘Tracker’ Will Be Back This Fall
Colter’s job is never-ending since people always go missing, and as long as that happens, he will always be needed. Tracker was renewed for Season 3 after proving its worth by leading broadcast scripted dramas for two seasons straight. Episodes average 15.2 million viewers, making it a no-brainer for CBS. The third season is expected to premiere on CBS this fall. Meanwhile, the show still has an overarching storyline about the Shaw family secrets. Series star and creator Justin Hartley told TV Insider that these family secrets will be explored throughout many seasons. “We’ll figure out a lot more, and [Colter will] get more leads. But sometimes when you get more leads and find out more information, it just unravels more s**t, and sometimes that’s more interesting. It certainly unravels here towards the end of the season,” he said.
