Will and Angie got new love interests in Will Trent season 3, but by episode 16, it has become clear that neither couple was ever going to work out. The two Will Trent main characters broke up when Will arrested Angie during the season 2 finale. Since then, they have tried to maintain a steady and healthy friendship as they move on to other people. There is always the chance they will gravitate back to each other one day. But as the show’s third season nears its end, it’s evident that neither Will nor Angie should be in a romantic relationship with anyone.
Will start dating ADA Marion Alba in Will Trent season 3, while Angie began seeing Dr. Seth McDale. Will and Marion broke up in episode 12 due to Will’s trauma from accidentally shooting and killing a kid, while Angie and Seth’s relationship is still going as of episode 16. Angie and Seth seem like a fun couple, and they could be good for one another because they have a lot in common. Angie ultimately needs a healthy connection in her life, and Seth could provide that. Unfortunately, that’s all but a pipe dream now that Angie has relapsed in Will Trent season 3.
Angie’s Relapse Makes It Clear That She Shouldn’t Be With Seth In Will Trent Season 3
After Angie’s mother dies in Will Trent season 3, episode 15, she starts spiraling. She goes to a bar and orders a drink, breaking her hard-earned sobriety. Episode 16 ends with Angie pouring her drink down the toilet, but she then gets beaten up by a couple after attempting to interfere and stop their fight. Consequently, it doesn’t appear like Angie will get better anytime soon, meaning a breakup between her and Seth is inevitable.
Given that Seth is also a recovering addict, Angie’s latest breakdown suggests she shouldn’t be dating him. It probably wouldn’t be healthy for either Will Trent season 3 character. Angie must get the help she needs to bounce back from this slip-up, and it would be best for her to do so without having to also worry about a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, Seth should put himself and his sobriety first.
Why It’s Best For Angie To Be Single For A While In Will Trent
Seth might not be the best person for Angie right now in Will Trent season 3. However, no one truly is. Angie hitting rock bottom after her abusive mother’s death proves that she isn’t ready to be in a relationship with anyone, whether that is Seth or Will.
Once Angie commits to becoming sober again, she must seek outside help. Based on everything she has gone through, it’s mind-blowing that the ABC police procedural series hasn’t featured Angie attending therapy regularly. Hopefully, Will Trent season 3 ends with Angie in a better place, but the only way she can get there is if she’s single.
