Will Trent season 3 is coming to an end with its final episode – episode 18, titled “Listening to a Heartbeat” – and fans are left wondering: Is Angie Polaski still alive?
The previous episode set the stage for a dramatic finale as a series of events unfolded, from Will Trent discovering his biological father’s true identity to a dangerous hostage crisis at an Atlanta hospital. But what shocked viewers the most was the possibility of losing one of their most beloved characters – Angie (Erika Christensen).
A Biological Nightmare: Bioweapon Attacks the Hospital
As the plot unfolds, a group of domestic terrorists unleashed a deadly biological weapon on a hospital – home to many of the show’s main characters, including Angie, Amanda, Ormewood, Nico, and Will’s beloved dog Betty. Not only is the virus highly contagious, it also acts quickly, putting anyone who comes into contact with it at risk of death in a short period of time.
Erika Christensen, who plays Angie and directed episode 17, told TVLine that viewers should be “very concerned” about the fate of the characters. “Everyone is in danger,” she said. “Especially those who are trapped in the hospital where there are already infected people.”
Will must choose between duty and emotion
In addition to facing a biological disaster, Will (Ramón Rodriguez) is also in the midst of his biggest personal crisis yet: discovering that his real father is Sheriff Caleb Roussard (played by Yul Vazquez). When he should have taken time to come to terms with this truth, Will is forced to put everything on hold to save his loved ones and hundreds of patients from the brink of extinction. Can he stay strong under so much pressure? And more importantly – can he save Angie in time?
Is Angie alive?
Although ABC has confirmed that Will Trent season 4 will return in 2025–2026, Angie’s fate remains a big question mark. The finale promises some surprising twists, and with the way the last season ended with Angie being taken into custody, anything is possible. Angie’s death could be the big shock that the writers use to send Will on a new, darker journey next season.
However, we can’t rule out the possibility that she survived — but faced long-term health consequences, or a turning point in her relationship with Will after the revelation that she was pregnant with Dr. Seth McDale’s child.
