During a recent fan event to tease the upcoming Bridgerton season, one of the original cast members, Hugh Sachs, shared an interesting update about his character Brimsley and his unresolved love interest from the spin-off series. The actor hinted that fans might get an answer to that question eventually on the Netflix series.
The popular Netflix series Bridgerton has already had a hugely successful prequel spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023), which follows a young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and her romance with a young King George III (Corey Mylchreest). Despite the bittersweet ending to that series, fans are still wondering about Brimsley (Hugh Sachs), the Queen’s secretary, and his unresolved love interest. At a recent event, the actor revealed a shocking plot revelation and teased that fans could learn more about the upcoming season of Bridgerton.

At a Bridgerton Season 4 Valentine’s Day fan event, Sachs was asked about Brimsley’s (Sam Clemmett) younger romance with Reynolds (Freddie Dennis), the King’s secretary. The actor revealed a surprising detail that has fans wanting to know more. At the end of Queen Charlotte, Brimsley is shown alone with Reynolds, dancing and reminiscing about his younger days.
However, Sachs stated, “Reynolds isn’t dead. That’s the only thing Shonda [Rhimes] said. So the suspenseful question from [Queen] Charlotte—that’s the question I get asked all the time. They say, ‘What happened to Reynolds?’ And since they’re so good at storytelling, I wouldn’t be surprised if they touch on that story at some point.”

When asked about the possibility of a Season 2, the actor added, “I don’t know. But I think they might answer a question in Bridgerton. I really don’t know. But I know it’s a story they want to touch on at some point.”
Both Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, and Sachs will be back in Bridgerton Season 4, and the door is definitely open for their beloved characters to return in future seasons. So there’s a good chance that fans could find out what ultimately happened to Reynolds and why he’s no longer in Brimsley’s life.
