Chicago Fire debuted in 2012
The series has shown incredible staying power, and both fans and cast members are grateful. “I’ll never forget how special it is to be a part of something that has this kind of longevity,” Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney told Us Weekly in May 2022. “It’s a testament to [show creator] Dick Wolf and the team he’s assembled.”
“[Chicago] is home,” he added to TODAY in 2022. “Times have changed, the city has changed, and people have grown up… The city has treated me well. I love the city. I’ve gotten to know the city through my work.” It’s hard to imagine the show not being filmed on location, no matter how chilly the set.
“We laugh so much. We laugh so much every day on this show,” David Eigenberg (aka Chicago Fire O.G. Christopher Herrmann) told NBC Insider in a November 2024 interview. “That’s why the crew stays. Everyone who can stay stays because it’s a beautiful set.”
The camaraderie extends beyond the Chicago Fire set to the entire One Chicago family. In a Jan. 20 interview with TV Insider, Chicago P.D.’s Patrick John Flueger shared that he’s been a part of the show’s cast and crew for a while now. commented on his close friendship with Chicago Fire’s Miranda Rae Mayo. “Miranda and I have been pretty close for a long time,” he revealed. “We travel together, we’re friends outside of everything.”
A surprise breakfast that helps Taylor Kinney “get ready for the day”
In a 2023 video, Kinney revealed his surprisingly sweet breakfast. “I have two chocolate Oreos and two vanilla Oreos,” he explained. “And I don’t usually touch them too much, but I dip them in whole milk… Dip Oreos, bing-bam-boom, breakfast—out the door, I’m ready for the day,” he said.
