Small-Town Ontario Transforms Into TV Drama Set for CBS’s Sheriff Country

An Ontario town west of Toronto will stand in for small-town USA as filming begins on a new television series.

Sheriff Country, a spinoff of the existing Fire Country, is using downtown Milton today (May 16) for its shoot.

The show stars Morena Baccarin as a straight-shooting sheriff who has to contend with an ex-con father and mysterious happenings surrounding her daughter.

Baccarin has appeared regularly onscreen, notably as the love interest of the main characters in the movie Deadpool and the series Gotham.

The filming will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church and also at homes on surrounding streets.

Traffic stoppages will occur along the town’s Main Street throughout the day.

Production crews will be stationed and parked in the downtown lots.

Shooting is expected to last one day, with the possibility of returning in the days ahead.

The show will also feature Amanda Arcuri (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Watson), Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Phineas and Ferb), Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty) and Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights).

It’s not known if the stars of the show will be present for the Milton filming.

Sheriff Country is expected to premiere this fall.
