The New York Field Office team is used to chasing criminals around the city, but in the FBI Season 7 finale, the tables are turned, and war finds them at home. “After Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) narrowly escapes a calculated assault on a secret FBI office, the team discovers a rogue terrorist group has infiltrated the FBI. Unsure of who to trust, the team must work in the shadows to unmask the culprits threatening the sanctity of the New York field office,” the logline for FBI Season 7, Episode 22, “A New Day,” teases. In the season finale episode airing on CBS on May 20 at 8 p.m. ET, the world is turned upside down as the team is robbed of their regular work tools when their office is taken over. CBS released a sneak peek of the episode, previewing their attempt to figure out what’s happening with limited resources.
Some cases are open and shut, but the one teased in the video below is nothing like that. The team gets word that there’s an attack planned on the federal building and that the FBI has been infiltrated. Elsewhere, Jubal is attacked in what seems to be a convenience store but could be the secret office teased by the logline. How did the attacker know this was an FBI office? This teases a mole with significant power. “We’ve all been relieved of our duties,” Maggie (Missy Peregrym) says. How can an entire team be relieved of their duties in a city like New York without any due process? But what Isobel (Alana De La Garza) says is what’s most concerning. She calls someone who can’t be identified a traitor, further hinting that the mole is one of them. Who could it be? It seems like a very complex attack that doesn’t rely only on guns and fists.
‘FBI’ Undergoes Some Changes
Series star Zeeko Zaki revealed that the show has some new writers, and they might be trying new things to keep it entertaining. “We’re kind of calling it our little Fast and Furious episode where we have to find a new location, a new place, and kind of work off the grid and solve a crime,” he told TV Insider when previewing the season finale. “It’s really fun that we kind of get to do these new things in our show now with our new writers. Hopefully, the audience buys it, loves it, and wants to see more of it,” he added. Zaki teased a massive cliffhanger, saying:
“It is a life-or-death cliffhanger, that’s all I’ll say.”
