Tom Ellis Is Back on the Small Screen as the Star of CIA
The official synopsis for the FBI offshoot reads, “CIA is a one hour crime drama centered on two unlikely partners – a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Tom Ellis), and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. ‘s biggest success stories, and it began with a Tom Ellis Tweet.

We might get a little bit of crossover with FBI from time to time, but ultimately, this is going to be about how the CIA goes about its business on homeland soil and why it’s important that these very different bureaus share information with each other and how for the greater good.”
Other FBI Shows Were Axed to Make Room for CIA
It’s good news for fans of the franchise that an offshoot will further expand the FBI universe, even if this new show will focus on the CIA. However, it came with the caveat of having two other shows in the franchise squashed. It was previously announced that the two FBI spinoffs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, had both been canceled by CBS. However, the main FBI series will still be moving forward with an eighth season. The Seaosn 7 finale will air on Tuesday, May 20, with the series finales of Most Wanted and International following on May 21.
CIA will debut on CBS this Fall.
