“Why Patricia Heaton Remains America’s Favorite TV Mom”

Patricia Heaton celebrates three years of sobriety

As the nation recently celebrated its freedom, so did Patricia Heaton.

The former “Everybody Loves Raymond” star chose an Independence Day-themed greeting to fans to celebrate her three years of independence from alcohol.

“It’s July when we celebrate our nation’s freedom,” she posted Sunday to Instagram while on a 3.5-mile hike. “Also celebrating three years of freedom from alcohol for me.”

It’s the Back to You reunion we’ve all been waiting for.

Patricia Heaton will reunite with former co-star Kelsey Grammer during Season 2 of Paramount+’s Frasier revival. According to our sister site Deadline, Heaton will play Holly, who is described as “down-to-earth, unpretentious and openly mocking of overly-intellectual types. A Boston native who tends bar at upscale restaurants and events, Holly is extraordinarily comfortable with both who and where she is in life, a quality that the always-climbing, always-reaching Frasier finds as alien as he does attractive.”

Frasier: Peri Gilpin to Join Cast in Season 2, Return as Roz Doyle

Grammer and Heaton go way back. The two previously played a pair of local TV news anchors on Back to You, which ran for one, strike-shortened season on Fox, in 2007 and 2008. Twelve years later, they reunited on Heaton’s short-lived CBS sitcom Carol’s Second Act; Grammer was introduced as Carol’s ex-husband in the Season 1 finale, with the hopes of recurring in Season 2. Alas, Carol’s Second Act didn’t see a second season.

As previously reported, the Frasier revival has enlisted original series star Peri Gilpin to reprise her role as Roz Doyle, Dr. Crane’s former KACL sidekick, on a recurring basis in Season 2. The multi-cam has also cast Greer Grammer (Awkward) as Roz’s daughter Alice, and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) as Monica, older sister to Toks Olagundoye’s Olivia.

Frasier Season 2 does not yet have a release date.

Heaton, of course, is no stranger to the multi-cam format. She earned two Emmys for her turn as Debra Barone on the CBS classic Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2005), which was followed by Back to You (2007-08). A nine-season stint as star of ABC’s The Middle (2009-18) was followed by her aforementioned return to CBS in Carol’s Second Act (2019-20).
