“From Relatable to Remarkable: How Ray Romano Captured the Heart of America as the Lovable Everyman in Everybody Loves Raymond

Alexandra Romano, 34

The Romanos welcomed their first child and only daughter, Alexandra, in August 1990, in New York.

Alexandra – or Ally, as her family calls her – attended the University of Pennsylvania and according to an interview Romano did with Parade in 2023, she worked for a PR firm “that handles celebrity chefs and restaurants”.

Since then however, it seems Alexandra chose to dabble in showbiz. According to People, Romano’s firstborn was listed as a co-producer for his 2022 directorial debut, Somewhere In Queens.

In September 2024, Alexandra wed Zachary Wilezol. Their ceremony was held at the New York Public Library where the couple met.

Matthew and Gregory Romano, 32

Matthew and Gregory Romano were born in January, 1993. The Ice Age voice actor admitted in a 1996 interview with People that he had hoped for a son when his wife announced her second pregnancy. To Romano’s surprise, his wish was granted twofold.

The twins have shared their father’s limelight, from joining him at red carpets to appearing as guests on talk shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres ShowThe Late Late Show with James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Matthew and Greg eventually worked on the sets of Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with James Corden respectively. Romano even tried to find his sons dates when he appeared on their shows.

The boys also have some acting credits under their belt having joined their father in projects such as Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), and Somewhere In Queens (2022). They also had guest roles in Everybody Loves Raymond.

In his 2023 interview with Parade, Romano also revealed that his twin sons were working on a documentary together.

In April 2024, Matthew married his then-girlfriend, Erica Jane.

The youngest of Romano’s kids, Joseph, was born in February 1998 and according to his father is the “stupidest kid, or maybe the deepest.” Speaking to DeGeneres on her show, Romano said that Joseph “might be the deepest because he says things that just, I don’t know how to react to.”

Romano revealed in an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Joseph is an ordained minister.

Joseph also made a TV appearance with his father and brothers in the game show, Celebrity Family Feud in 2020.

During his high school years, Joseph, who stands tall at 6 foot 5 inches, was a basketball player and his father revealed in an interview with Parade that he loved going to his youngest son’s games “and if I’m being honest, I also enjoyed the attention that I got from it” the actor admitted. “It’s kind of sad if you think about it because I’m a celebrity from TV and I needed more attention. I lived vicariously through him.”In a separate interview with People, the Made For Love star revealed that he even teared during Joseph’s last game. In fact, Somewhere in Queens was partly inspired by his relationship with Joseph and his on-court endeavours. “My thought was, what if this [movie] was about a guy who, that’s all he had – he felt invisible in his real life and the only time he felt any kind of purpose or attention was through his son and the basketball, and it was ending? And that was the jumping-off point of the story,” he told People.
