SEAL Team season 7 features a stealth Bones reunion, with the new actors reacting to reuniting with star David Boreanaz. SEAL Team season 7, the show’s last, is unfolding via weekly releases on Paramount+. The release schedule has given audiences a chance to take in the action drama’s twists and turns as it approaches the finish line. That includes bringing Boreanaz together with an actor that he once directed.
In an interview with TV Insider, Beau Knapp reacts to joining SEAL Team season 7 and reuniting with Boreanaz, who executive produces the show and plays the lead role of Jason Hayes. Knapp plays Drew Franklin, the newest member of the Bravo team, and he speaks candidly about what it was like to work with Boreanaz again after the Buffy alum directed Knapp in the Bones season 8 finale. Read his full quote below:
It was a trip. It was 2013. Those are wild times. Like 2011, I was 21. I had my first kid and just was a hungry young actor. It was all I knew how to do. Super 8 was my first job, the J.J. Abrams movies. And then I’m pretty sure Bones was the second thing I ever did, but coming into that it was wild because David Boreanaz was directing that finale and so I came into the room and read for David across from him. Same thing I did with SEAL Team—going into test was with David just sitting across from me.
It was such a great experience and I think that’s one of the first conversations we had when I walked into the room for SEAL Team to test. David and I started talking about 10 years prior or whatever it was, 11, 12 years and just time flies, but it was just so great to be working together again.
But yeah, even then, it was playing the villain. It’s so fun. I think that was the first experience I had of TV and how different it was from making films. It’s really crazy to see. I look like a baby shooting Bones compared to now. Just super grateful.
Who Did Beau Knapp Play On Bones?
Knapp appears in “The Secret in the Siege,” the Bones season 8 finale. Boreanaz directed the episode, and Stephen Nathan and Jonathan Collier wrote the script. Knapp plays Zane Reyonds in the episode, his only appearance, and Reynolds is a suspect as part of the larger storyline involving Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds). The episode aired in 2013 when Knapp was in his early 20s.
More than a decade later and already having a positive experience working with Borenaz before, Knapp joined the SEAL Team cast as Drew Franklin. The character is a Chief Petty Officer with a complicated past. His arrival at Bravo is not exactly a smooth transition, given Drew’s status as a problem child and he tends to always seek out his own advantage.
