In a recent interview with Extra, Clarke comments on her possible return for the Jon Snow Game of Thrones spinoff show. With Daenerys having died in the final season of the main show, though, Clarke seems quite certain that audiences won’t be seeing her character again. “I don’t think so. Kit, I love you. I’ma watch that one because of you or I’m gonna tell you that I did, but I won’t be in it. No, I don’t think so. He hasn’t called.”
Daenerys Not Returning Is For The Best
After he makes the difficult decision to kill Daenerys, who had completely gone off the rails at this point and been killing innocent King’s Landing civilians, Jon is essentially banished to life back in the North as part of the Night’s Watch. The last audiences see of Harington’s character in the divisive Game of Thrones finale is of him riding off to a life beyond the Wall with the Wildlings. The spinoff would seemingly pick up after these events, chronicling Jon’s new life.
The Game of Thrones ending was especially controversial, meaning the best path forward for a spinoff about Snow, if such a show happens at all, would be to create some distance between itself and its predecessor. By focusing on an entirely new story with new supporting characters, the spinoff could stand on its own two feet instead of leaning on what’s come before. Otherwise, the spinoff could just end up serving as a reminder of what audiences didn’t like about the Game of Thrones ending.
