Will Trent star Ramón Rodriguez just dropped a huge update on the future of his hit ABC procedural series. Will Trent first debuted on ABC at the beginning of 2023, and the show has released new seasons each of the last two years. To no one’s surprise, it was performing exceedingly well during its third season, and ABC decided to move forward with Season 4 before the end of Season 3.
The network is also expecting Will Trent Season 4 to air before the end of this year, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it stuck with an early 2026 release date, similar to previous seasons. Will Trent’s Rodriguez recently sat down for an interview with the LA Times, and he was asked what he could reveal about the fourth season:
“We’re about to begin these serious conversations. There were some pretty serious cliffhangers at the end of Season 3, where we find out Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) is pregnant, and Will is definitely not the father, so that’s gonna be something to explore. Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn), who is a maternal figure for Will, is in the hospital bed.
We just discovered his dad, [Sheriff Caleb Roussard], which we don’t know too much about, so I’d want to know more about the character and what happened with the mother. There’s just so many questions that we will get to explore — I mean, is there new love in Will’s life?”
During the same interview, Rodriguez confirmed that he will direct the first episode of Season 4, and potentially more installments deeper in the season. He previously directed the Season 3 premiere, which held up as one of the highest-rated episodes of the season. In addition to Rodriguez, Erika Christensen also stars in Will Trent as Angie Polaski, and Jake McLaughlin features alongside her as Michael Oremwood.
Also starring in recurring roles through the first three seasons of Will Trent are Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner and Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell. The show was written and created for television by Liz Heldens and Daniel T. Thomsen, and it’s based on the series of novels by Karin Slaughter. Howard Deutch (Young Sheldon) has directed the most episodes thus far, with seven.
What Else Has Ramón Rodriguez Been In?
Although Rodriguez has become best known for his work as Will Trent in the hit ABC series, he’s also starred in a few other projects you might have seen. He can also be seen as Leo Spitz in the 2009 film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which was directed by Michael Bay and also stars Josh Duhamel. Just two years later, he starred opposite Aaron Eckhart in Battle Los Angeles, and the film is currently streaming on Starz. He’s also known for his role as Joe Peck in Need for Speed, the 2014 video game adaptation led by Breaking Bad veteran Aaron Paul.
Will Trent Season 4 will be released later this year. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show and watch the first three seasons of Will Trent on Hulu.
