This has been Will Trent’s best season, and every episode just keeps getting better.
Spoilers for Will Trent Season 3 Episode 6 reveal that Will investigates a murder case that follows a familiar pattern, forcing him to confront his past, and the killer is still one step ahead of them. It looks like the second case will be a serious one, as Michael and Angie find a victim with a missing tongue, similar to John Shelley’s last victim 20 years ago.
We like how the show lightens the mood a bit, but they also get darker. Additional spoilers reveal that Marion and Will get closer, and those scenes are likely to be light and flirty. Finally, Federico Rodriguez guest stars in this episode. He’s not related to Ramon Rodriquez or Gina Rodriguez, but he’ll interact with both of them.
Rafael Wexford returns and could cause more trouble for Will
Major spoilers suggest that someone is always one step ahead of Will when he investigates a murder. As the case unfolds, Will suspects the case is more personal than he thought. Since Rafael Wexford is back this season, he or the Piedmont Kings could be involved.
Will turned a blind eye in Will Trent Season 3 Episode 2, and he may not do so again, so things could get more complicated. Ramon Rodriguez teased earlier that “Rafael keeps getting involved in criminal matters and getting in Will’s way on various cases. So he has to face it, and eventually, we’ll find out what happened in their childhood.”
This episode also hints at Will coming to terms with his past, so hopefully we’ll learn more about his relationship with Rafael. We don’t know much about that time after he aged out of the foster home before meeting Amanda.
Speaking of Amanda, Rafael’s return will also affect her custody of Sunny. Sunny is finally starting to adjust and heal. Will seeing her dad again slow her progress? While Sunny needs her dad in her life, she also needs stability, as Rafael and Will know from their experiences. It’s refreshing to see Amanda parent a teenager, and it gives her character some layers, so hopefully that doesn’t end.
Michael and Angie find clues to a violent crime involving John
Every time a creepy new character shows up, they get involved in Angie’s storyline. My poor girl can’t catch a break.
We all know how Angie feels about sexual assault, and Michael has been very protective of her lately, especially after she was locked in a warehouse with John in Will Trent Season 3 Episode 3. While Angie knows John, that could work to APD’s advantage or disadvantage. John is very volatile and determined not to go back to prison.
He also seems offended that Angie doesn’t believe him when he insists he won’t hurt anyone. That could put her in danger again when the two confront each other, and he threatens to jump off a building. While I love Angie’s passion for sexual assault victims and these cases, hopefully she and Michael will have some light-hearted cases again. Will Trent has been great at building a partnership this season, so this case will bring Michael and Angie closer together.
Marion is flirting with Will and wants to explore their relationship further
Even Faith realizes that Will is ready to move on, and she encourages him to ask Marion out on a date during the weekly promo. It’s adorable that the two partners are each other’s right-hand men again, and Faith knows Will needs a push. Will and Marion could take their relationship one step further as she teases that she’s good at discouraging men, and Will asks her out to dinner. While I am a big fan of Will and Angie, I am cautiously optimistic about Will and Marion because Will deserves a healthy, equal, fun, and flirty romantic relationship.
Hopefully Marion doesn’t have many secrets.
I am a little worried that Federico Rodriguez might be playing her fiancé since he only appears in plot-revealing shots with her or Will at the coffee shop.
