Three’s Company Fans loved watching Jack Tripper, Chrissy Snow, and Janet Wood’s silly antics. Back in the 1970s, a man living with two women was taboo, so they had to pretend Jack was gay to get their landlord to allow them to stay together. Jack, played by John Ritter, was quite the ladies’ man and had plenty of dates at the Regal Beagle.
Of course, fans long wondered why Jack and Janet never got together. They seemed like they’d be the perfect couple, but alas, it never happened. Joyce DeWitt, who played Janet, recently spoke with Amy Yasbeck, John’s widow, about the show.
Joyce DeWitt Learned About A Funny Nickname Fans Have For Janet And Jack
Joyce DeWitt stunned in a new TikTok video with beautiful white hair and that same classic wit. Amy shared that some fans who pined for Janet and Jack to get together actually referred to them as “Jacket.”
“I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘How come Jack and Janet didn’t get together? But I didn’t know they called us ‘Jacket.’ That’s a new one,” she laughed.
Fans adored seeing the beloved actress. Even after all these years, they’ve never forgotten how she made them laugh.
“It was the moment at the dance studio. Joyce Dewitt still so beautiful,” a fan wrote. This person agreed. “My first crush was Joyce Dewitt on ‘Three Company.’ I’m 55. Looking beautiful lady on TV.”
If given the chance, this fan would love to meet Joyce someday. “People ask ‘What celebrity would you most like to meet?’… Joyce is always my answer!!!” But this fan doesn’t think the whole Jacket theory is real.
“Nobody wanted to see Jack and Janet together. It was a comedy. Geez people,” they wrote. According to this fan, Jacket could have had a real future. “John’s ‘Three’s Company’ spin off might have actually worked had it been him and Ms DeWitt too bad they didn’t come up with the idea back then.”
