What Happened in The 2025 One Chicago Crossover?
In the mind-blowing three-part event, when a gas explosion rocked a high-rise, the ensemble casts of all three One Chicago shows arrive at the scene. Chicago’s first responders came out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians while also racing against time to reach the victims trapped deep underground, including two of their own. With the Chicago Fire and Med team busy saving lives, the city’s finest cops hunt down the suspects responsible for the explosion – one out of the four assailants was eventually revealed to be Lauren Bates (Jennifer Regan), a former PD member who shot Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) in the back.
For those wondering what led to Platt getting shot, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), who figures out that the explosion was intentional, comes across two men with masks and guns but manages to escape. He alerts the PD to the descriptions of both men, prompting Platt and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) to give chase. When the former manages to catch one of them, someone comes up behind and shoots her in the back. Platt, badly injured, is rushed to Gaffney Medical Center, and after giving viewers a few scares, she makes it through the procedure alive.
