Fans Slam Days of Our Lives for ‘Ruining’ Eric & Nicole Offscreen

It’s been almost a year since Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) headed off to Paris to start a new chapter with baby Jude on Days of Our Lives. Their happy ending, though, appears to have been very short-lived.

On a recent episode of the hit Peacock soap, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) informed Aaron (Louis Tomeo) that Nicole and Eric sat separately at her graduation ceremony. Neither Eric nor Nicole appeared on-screen. Instead, fans were just given an update on the couple from Holly, indicating there’s trouble in paradise.

Social media was abuzz after the episode. Days of Our Lives fans were not happy with what the show is doing to a legacy couple.

“Even off camera they’re seemingly ruining Eric and Nicole. I’m glad that Nicole at least made it to Holly’s graduation instead of them coming up with some lame excuse. #Days,” read an X.

Another fan on X declared, “If we’re going to tout couples off screen that are having problems, Eric & Nicole should be the LAST one to play these games with. There are FAR more deserving legacy kids to bring back on canvas if that’s the case. Eric & Nicole need a long-ass happy rest. #Days.”

“So Eric and Nicole made it to Holly’s graduation after all…offscreen. And apparently didn’t sit together. #Days,” stated a fan.

A different X user shared, “So Eric & Nicole were at Holly’s graduation but sitting on opposites sides?? Did I hear that right? Crazy! #days,” and another fan remark read, “Eric and Nicole relationship issues shouldn’t be mentioned in today’s episode #Days.”

One fan expressed, “#Days So they can’t even let Eric & Nicole be happy offscreen!! #Ericole.”

After two decades of back-and-forth, Days of Our Lives’Eric and Nicole deserve a happy ending, especially since their relationship remains off-screen.

Although Vaughan has returned for several appearances, following Ericole’s exit, Zucker won’t be returning to the hit Peacock soap. The actress is in the middle of a lawsuit against executive producer Ken Corday, Corday Productions, and former director/executive producer Albert Alarr.

It sounds like the writers may be gearing up for an Eric return without Nicole, especially in light of John’s (Drake Hogestyn) death.
