Suzanne Somers’ Widower Seen With Familiar Face — and Fans Are Doing a Double Take
Suzanne Somers’ widower, Alan Hamel, may have found love again after the Three’s Company star’s death in October 2023, and it’s with her former costar Joanna Cassidy.
Hamel and Cassidy were seen strolling arm-in-arm in Malibu in photos shared by the Daily Mail on June 24. The Blade Runner star wore a gray jacket over a white top and plaid pants while Hamel donned an orange and yellow button-down shirt. Both wore matching white caps. The outlet reported that the duo stopped and enjoyed a lobster lunch at Broad Beach Oyster Company before they left together in a black SUV.
Parade has reached out to Cassidy’s replies for comment.
Somers and Cassidy previously worked together on the 1985 miniseries Hollywood Wives, which featured an ensemble cast and became a cult favorite. While the two weren’t frequently photographed together after the project, they remained part of the same Hollywood circle for decades.
Cassidy was previously married to Dr. KennardC.Kobrin, whom she met during her college years. The two tied the knot in 1964 and over the course of their marriage, they welcomed a son, Daniel Kobrin, and a daughter, Natalie Kobrin. They were married for around eight years before divorcing in 1972. Since then, Cassidy hasn’t remarried.
Hamel and Somers first met when she appeared as a model on the game show he hosted at the time, The Anniversary Game, in 1969, and he asked her out on a date soon after.
“My first date with him, I did everything that my mother told me not to do,” Somers once said during an appearance on Daily Blast Live. “It’s the first time I ever went to a man’s hotel room, and it’s the first time I ever slept with a man on the first date.”
They dated for several years before finally marrying on November 19, 1977, and even though Somers once said that she and Hamel “fought like dogs” in the early years, they remained together until her death on October 15, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
“After one of our fights, Suzanne told me, ‘No matter how bad it gets, let’s never break up.’ And we never did,” Hamel said during an interview with Page Six, marking the first anniversary of her death.
