Teisha Speight plays Mia Elkan in Will Trent Season 3. She first appeared in Episode 6 of the latest season before being killed off in a later episode.
Mia is an Atlanta-area nurse introduced in Episode 6 as a good friend and co-worker of Peggy, another medical professional found dead in the woods behind her home.
Mia becomes key to the case, having developed a close connection to Peggy before her death. She provides Will and the team with vital information that could prove crucial to the future of Peggy’s case, telling them about an overbearing ex-boyfriend who quickly becomes the prime suspect.
However, her debut episode ends on a cliffhanger, as Mia becomes a star witness for the GBI team. As she approaches her home from her car, she hears footsteps behind her, perhaps foreshadowing the fate of the TV character to end the episode.
Episode 7 begins with Mia being murdered, becoming the second victim in this string of nurse murders. The rest of the episode sees the GBI investigating Mia’s death in hopes of bringing both her and Peggy’s killers to justice.

Fans may recognize actress Mia Teisha Speight from a number of other notable television credits.
The 36-year-old actress (born October 20, 1989) has been a working actress since she was 11, building up a solid list of television credits over the past few years.
Other major roles besides her role as Mia in Will Trent include playing Passenger Cutie in P-Valley Season 2 (a series that is still awaiting a third season) and Elise in Donald Glover’s Atlanta.
Teisha’s Scenes Cut from BMF
Another credit Teisha Speight has on her resume is an appearance on Starz’s BMF; however, her scenes from the series were ultimately cut.
Speight was originally cast as a friend of the show’s rising star from Season 2 and Season 3, Tina (played by Bailey Tippen), in a Season 2 episode, but when it was finally released, her scene was cut.
Speight doesn’t seem to hold any grudges, sharing a post on Instagram from when she was filming the show, in which she wrote that even though she was cut, people should still “watch this [episode]:”

Actress Will Trent is also a pet owner, owning a dog named Ginger.
Ginger is a shih-poo (a shih tzu-poodle mix) that Speight has called his fur baby for many years. The TV star regularly shares photos of her beloved dog on Instagram.
Ginger isn’t even Speight’s first poodle, as she’s been a longtime pet owner. In a March 2022 Instagram post, the actress shared a tribute to what she considers her former dog, Polo, whom she cared for for 12 years.
