This incredible Star Wars fan art brings every known (and potential) Imperial Inquisitor together in an intimidating yet fascinating “family” portrait. The Inquisitors were a group of dark side Force-wielders chosen by the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader to hunt down Jedi and future Force-sensitives across the galaxy in the wake of Order 66. Most Inquisitors had tragic backstories – many of them were former Jedi who turned to the dark side out of desperation after the fall of the Jedi Order, and others turned to the dark side after enduring countless hours of torture at the hands of the Empire.
Artist Inquisitorius-Sin-Bin shared their stunning work on X (formerly Twitter). Each Inquisitor is illustrated with meticulous detail. The Grand Inquisitor, for instance, is front and center in the image and exudes that same smug self-confidence he portrayed in Star Wars Rebels. The Ninth Sister’s intimidating physicality is well-represented, and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Reva has that driven, determined, yet sorrowful look on her face, too. Inquisitorius-Sin-Bin truly captured everything that makes these Inquisitors tick in this piece of Star Wars art.
One Star Wars character in this illustration is not like the others, though. Directly above the Grand Inquisitor is a young, red-haired Inquisitor – one who looks a lot like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor’s Cal Kestis. In the games, Cal Kestis is an Order 66 survivor doing everything in his power to fight against the Empire. Could he ever become an Inquisitor, though? Is Cal capable of falling to the dark side? The artist seems to think so, and there is certainly evidence for that in Cal’s story.
Could Cal Kestis Ever Become One Of Darth Vader’s Inquisitors?
In Fallen Order and Survivor, and the tie-in novel, Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs, Cal comes face to face with several Inquisitors. Though he manages to hold his own against all of them, those encounters do make him think about his fate. In Fallen Order, he reflects that he easily could have been desperate enough to turn to the dark side too – in one Force-vision, he even sees himself as an Inquisitor, hunting down younglings. That vision truly scared him, and because he surrounded himself with people who cared about him, he was able to keep fighting for what was right.
Though Cal was able to come back to the light in Jedi: Survivor, his grief and anger will undoubtedly continue to haunt him.
And yet, in Survivor, when he was faced with the sudden deaths of his mentors, Cal reached out to the dark side. Cal had proven time and time again that he would do anything to protect the ones he loved, and when he was betrayed by someone he trusted, he nearly fell. Though he was able to come back to the light, his grief and anger will undoubtedly continue to haunt him. Perhaps, in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s sequel, Cal will be faced with a choice once more . What if his story ends in tragedy, and he joins Star Wars’ Inquisitors after all?
