Tracker Season 3’s New Villain Revealed: Meet Dominic Chase

A Formidable Adversary Enters the Scene

CBS’s Tracker has always centered around morally complex cases and emotionally driven rescues—but Season 3 is set to introduce something darker: a recurring antagonist. Sources close to production have confirmed the casting of Dominic Chase, a highly intelligent and manipulative ex-bounty hunter who becomes Colter Shaw’s nemesis.

Chase will be portrayed by acclaimed actor Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama, Yellowstone). His casting adds a new layer of psychological depth to the show, with Lucas bringing a blend of charm and menace that promises to challenge Colter on every level.

Who Is Dominic Chase?

Chase is described in the official show notes as “a former tracker who turned rogue after a botched job that left an innocent person dead.” Disillusioned by the system and operating off the grid, he now works for wealthy clients willing to pay for results—legal or not.

“He sees himself as the better version of Colter,” says showrunner Elwood Reid. “He’s more ruthless, more efficient, and utterly convinced that justice without rules is the only kind that works.”

A Dangerous Rivalry

Colter and Chase have never met—but their paths begin to intersect in Episode 4, when a reward case gone wrong reveals evidence of Chase’s manipulation. What starts as a professional clash soon escalates into a cat-and-mouse battle stretching across multiple states.

By midseason, Chase begins targeting people close to Colter—not out of vengeance, but to prove a twisted point: that the world Colter believes in is naïve and broken.

Thematic Depth and Moral Complexity

Tracker’s writers are using Chase to explore questions that have long simmered beneath the surface of the show: What defines justice? Can morality survive in a lawless world? Is Colter’s code sustainable—or delusional?

“This is the season where Colter truly questions himself,” said Justin Hartley in a recent interview. “Dominic is like a mirror, reflecting everything Colter might have become.”

With Dominic Chase entering the picture, Tracker Season 3 takes on a darker, more cerebral tone. The addition of a recurring villain allows the show to shift from episodic thrills to long-form psychological storytelling—raising the stakes for Colter, and for fans.

As the battle between two master trackers unfolds, one thing is clear: not every pursuit ends with justice. Some end with revelation.
