CBS to Celebrate ‘I Love Lucy’ Anniversary with Newly Restored Colorized Specials

CBS has announced that it will celebrate the enduring legacy of I Love Lucy by airing a new set of remastered, colorized episodes in late 2025 to mark what would have been Lucille Ball’s 114th birthday.

The network has chosen two of the most beloved episodes, “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” (Vitameatavegamin) and “Job Switching” (the chocolate factory episode), to air in prime time, with updated visuals and restored audio quality. This marks the 10th consecutive year that CBS has brought Lucy back to network television, proving the show’s ongoing cultural relevance.

“Lucille Ball’s comedic brilliance continues to entertain audiences of all ages,” said CBS Studios in a press statement. “We’re honored to bring her work to new generations.”

These specials will also include behind-the-scenes features, with commentary from historians and surviving cast members’ families, offering new insight into how the show became a revolutionary force in television.
