New Spinoff ‘FBI: CIA’ Greenlit, Tom Ellis to Lead High-Stakes Series

Following the cancellation of two FBI spin-offs, CBS has quickly moved to fill the gap by greenlighting ‘FBI: CIA’, a new drama set within the same universe—but focused on international intelligence operations.

British actor Tom Ellis (Lucifer) will lead the series as Agent Jack Stratton, a former FBI profiler turned CIA operative. The show promises a darker, more espionage-driven tone than its predecessors, and will be co-produced by Dick Wolf and The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp.

“This is a bold new direction for the franchise,” said CBS execs. “FBI: CIA will bring the same urgency, but with global reach and deeper secrecy.”

Filming begins in fall 2025, with a midseason premiere expected in early 2026. Crossovers with FBI are already being discussed.
