Chicago Med Season 10 has been a blast from start to (almost) finish. After Episode 21, “Baby Mine…,” saw a competition for lungs for a cystic fibrosis patient become painstakingly tense, it seems the effects of such a traumatic experience are set to take their toll on one character in particular. Walter, played by the returning guest star Sam Trammell, is about to see life flash before his eyes as desperation-induced rage threatens to put lives at risk in the upcoming Season 10 finale. After Noah lost his spot at the top of the list for lung donation, Walter’s level-headedness has gone out the window. Furious and frustrated, Walter is set to bring a gun into the ER, with Dr. Frost (Darren Barnet) being the one in charge of defusing the situation.
A parent’s desperation for the safety of their child is something all too relatable for many Chicago Med fans. With that in mind, the fate of both Walter and Noah is one of the upcoming finale’s key talking points as the days to its debut tick down, even if it doesn’t necessarily feature headline characters. Speaking to TVInsider ahead of the finale, showrunner Allen MacDonald has teased what fans can expect from Walter in the upcoming episode, and it seems the stakes are particularly high. After admitting that “the danger is very real,” MacDonald added:
“Sam Trammell’s character Walter is in an extremely charged and emotional and grief-stricken state of mind, and I think he feels like he’s been lied to. I think he feels like he’s been misled. I think he correctly feels that his son was cheated out of a lifesaving organ, and he’s not thinking rationally.”
‘Chicago Med’ Will Return for Season 11
The idea of any given season of your favorite show coming to an end is inevitably sad. However, that sadness is cushioned with the knowledge that, sooner or later, it is destined to return. That is the recently realized reality for fans of Chicago Med, or the One Chicago franchise entirely for that matter, as the announcement was made that all three shows will return for the 2025-2026 TV season. For Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., there will be no shake-up to the schedule either, with the beloved One Chicago Wednesdays set to return in full. With that in mind, fans can sit back, relax, and indulge in the explosive chaos of the upcoming Chicago Med Season 10 finale, with future drama from the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center confirmed.
