Turner, who portrays Officer Kiana Cook, posted a touching message on social media thanking Chicago P.D. fans and the cast and crew for their warm welcome. The actress, who joined after Tracy Spiridakos exited following eight seasons on the show, also revealed that she’s excited about future opportunities. Her post on Instagram reads:
My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next. To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day. It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent. To the ChiHards: thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love. And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead.
I hope that they put me more into her world… I would love for people to see what her personal home looks like. We’ve never been there. I would love to see what it looks like when she actually lets her hair down. What does that look like? And I don’t know if there’s a case that I want. I’m learning how to ride a motorcycle over the summer, so I would love to get her on a motorcycle. I would love that.
Toya Turner’s Connection to CPD in Real Life
Toya Turner was made for the role of Officer Kiana Cook, and not just because she’s an amazingly talented actress. According to an NBC article from 2024, Turner’s father is a real CPD officer. LaRoyce Hawkins, who stars as Officer Kevin Atwater in the series, said he got calls about the department being excited to see Turner on their screens. “I’ve been getting calls from other cops saying, you know, look out for her because [her] dad is a great guy… I’m looking forward to seeing how she grows and continues to gel. But so far extremely good, you really can’t complain. I think we lucked out with that one.”
