CBS Drops Casting Shock: Gloria Reuben Tapped for “Blue Bloods” Spinoff “Boston Blue”

Gloria Reuben has joined the growing cast of “Boston Blue,” the “Blue Bloods” spinoff premiering on CBS this fall.

She has been cast as Mae Silver, who serves as Boston’s district attorney. The official description for the character reads, “The widow of a judge who was murdered on the courthouse steps, Mae is the matriarch of a blended family of law enforcement professionals: her daughter Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) is a Boston Police Department detective, and her stepdaughter Sarah (Maggie Lawson) is the police superintendent. Her son Jonah is a rookie cop. Mae is accustomed to making decisions and standing by them.”

“Boston Blue” stars Donnie Wahlberg, who reprises his “Blue Bloods” role, Danny Reagan. The series follows Danny as he takes a position with the Boston police department, where he is partnered with Lena.

Reuben is best known for playing Jeanie Boulet on “ER,” which ran on NBC from 1994 to 2009 and earned her Emmy nominations in both 1997 and 1998.
