Young Sheldon is drawing to a close after seven seasons, and with shooting on the series finale recently wrapping up, the cast is already feeling a wave of nostalgia. In exclusive interviews with PEOPLE at PaleyFest 2024 on April 14, the stars reflected on the years they spent together filming the beloved CBS comedy.
Zoe Perry, who plays Mary Cooper, admitted, “It’s been very bittersweet. It’s not an easy thing to know that something that’s been so wonderful for us is coming to an end.” She added, “But I think I can speak for everyone that we’re all just really grateful that we’ve gotten to tell this story, tell it for as long as we have, [and] get to experience the audience reactions and how wonderful they’ve been. I think we’re just so appreciative. Truly.”
Montana Jordan, who portrays Georgie Cooper, described the cast as a true-blue “family,” even when the cameras weren’t rolling. They often did activities together outside of work, with Raegan Revord (Missy Cooper) in particular “bugging him all the time” via text “to do stuff.” Jordan, 21, explained, “But no, I enjoy it, man. I really enjoy it. I got two older sisters in real life, and on the show I got a little brother and a little sister, so I got the best of both worlds. We’ve been a family ever since the first day we met — and we’re still a family. Just because the show’s ending doesn’t mean we’re not going to continue being a family. That’s what kind of bond we got.”
While the cast was understandably tight-lipped about specific plot details for the Young Sheldon series finale airing on May 16, star Iain Armitage (Sheldon Cooper), 15, teased that fans of both Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory will be pleased with how the show ties everything together. Armitage shared, “It very much comes full circle, and I think we are trying to do our best to satisfy both fans of our show and Big Bang, and it’s been so much fun to film.” Perry, 40, also hinted there would be “fun little” nods to previous episodes or “Easter eggs” loyal viewers will notice throughout the final episode.
