Donnie Wahlberg has been hard at work since Blue Bloods went off the air in December. The actor and singer has been performing with his New Kids on the Block bandmates for their Las Vegas residency. And now he’s back at work filming his Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue.
The NKOTB residency is on hiatus until November, and Donnie told his Blockhead fans that he started filming Boston Blue on July 7. Then, he shared a behind-the-scenes photo from their table read on his Instagram story, and the photo was a bit on the cryptic side.
Donnie is reprising his role as Danny Reagan on the new series, and he shared a photo of the table read, which shows actors and writers sitting in a conference room reading scripts. Donny wrote, “Boston Blue cast read through. Can’t show you everything (or every one).”
Fans have been hoping to see some familiar Blue Bloods faces in the Boston Blue cast, but nothing has been confirmed. We do know that the show will star Mika Amonsen, Sonequa Martin-Green, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben, and Ernie Hudson.
Donnie shared a fun video of him getting ready to go to work and wrote, “So thankful for another day on this planet and for another opportunity to play this guy! Day One for Danny Reagan — again! Let’s get to work! ❤️🙏🏼💙”
We’ll have to wait and see what surprises Donnie has up his sleeve, but we do have a premiere date. CBS just announced that Boston Blue will premiere on Friday, October 17. The countdown is on!
