Ransom Canyon Season 2 Latest News

The cast of Ransom Canyon is massive, and there’s no reason to think that most of the ensemble could return in season 2. The one guaranteed return is that of Josh Duhamel as Staten Kirkland, and he is ostensibly the main character of the ensemble western romance. Joining him will likely be Minka Kelly as Quinn O’Grady the musician and dance hall owner who has stolen Staten’s heart, even if he isn’t ready to admit it yet. Meanwhile, Jack Schumacker plays the mysterious drifter named Yancy Grey, and it’s clear he has a lot of secrets that will continue to spill out in season 2.

One actor who likely won’t be coming back in future episodes is screen legend James Brolin, whose character Cap Fuller passed away toward the end of season 1. Lizzy Greene will probably return to the role of Lauren Brigman, and she has some tough choices to make after her life-altering injury. Garrett Wareing played Lucas Russell in season 1, and though they broke up, he still carries a torch for Lauren. The rest of the townsfolk, ranchers, and police characters should also return, but a full list won’t be announced for some time.

Sheriff Brigman sits behind his desk in Ransom Canyon season 1

Though the finale of Ransom Canyon season 1 finally revealed who was responsible for Randall’s death, it was far from a conclusive ending. Sheriff Brigman had to arrest his own wife, Margaret, who killed Randall in a drunk-driving accident, and it’s unclear if justice will truly be blind. This could carry over into season 2 as Staten pushes for Margaret to be punished to the full extent of the law, while she may be protected by her husband. Speaking of Staten, he walked away from his newfound relationship with Quinn, but that romantic odyssey is not over yet.

Season 2 could see the two exploring other romantic possibilities, which would allow the will-they-won’t-they tension to boil beneath the surface. Other relationships were left in awkward places, and season 2 is expected to feature a slew of breakups and reunions. Lauren’s injury means she’ll probably never get to cheer for her dream school, and her decision to break up with Lucas was a preemptive move since he’s likely moving away to go to college in the future. It remains to be seen if they’ll stay broken up forever, or if Lauren’s dream is really dead.Yancy’s shocking proposal to Ellie left poor Kai in the lurch, but he had his “I told you so” moment when a mysterious woman arrived claiming to be Yancy’s wife. While it could be that Yancy was trying to commit bigamy in the pursuit of a con job, this other woman could also be some sort of grifter. Underneath all that is the machinations of Austin Water & Power, the true force for bad that is trying to take over things in Ransom Canyon.
