From Red to Reckless: The Blacklist Creator Drops Chilling Trailer for The Last Frontier

The Blacklist boss has stepped away from the realm of Red Reddington as Apple TV+ unveils the first teaser trailer for his latest thriller.

Located in Alaska’s isolated wilderness, The Last Frontier is a 10-episode series making its worldwide premiere with its opening two instalments arriving on Friday, October 10, on Apple TV+.

The official synopsis states: “The Last Frontier follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone US marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska.

“Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates.

“Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.”

To celebrate the reveal of its launch date, the streaming platform has dropped its first chilling trailer which takes place aboard an aircraft packed with shackled prisoners.

As one examines his restraints and another mutters to himself, a third sits alone at the rear, hooded and wearing headphones.

A blast then shatters the quiet as fire engulfs the aircraft’s side.

An external shot reveals one wing ablaze before cutting back to the convicts, now shrieking in terror as the aircraft lurches and oxygen masks drop.

In the trailer’s closing scenes, the aircraft appears moments away from crashing as it skims treetops before plummeting towards the snow-laden terrain below.

The high-octane thriller has been developed by Richard D’Ovidio, known for The Call, alongside The Blacklist mastermind Jon Bokenkamp.

The Blacklist enjoyed an impressive 10-year run on NBC, featuring James Spader as the infamous criminal Raymond “Red” Reddington, before concluding in 2023.

The Last Frontier will feature Zero Dark Thirty and Terminator star Jason Clarke, who is also serving as executive producer.
