‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Jim Parsons Proves He’s Just as Brilliant Off-Screen

He played one of the most beloved characters in sitcom history.

As Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons was known for his unique humor and deadpan delivery — but it turns out the actor’s talents aren’t limited to making people laugh.

Parsons, 52, took to Instagram this week to share a throwback photo of himself with Canadian tennis pro Genie Bouchard, who scored a major win at the National Bank Open this week. Self-proclaimed “tennis fanatic” Parsons, 52, included a lengthy tribute to the athlete in his post, waxing rhapsodic about both her skills on the court and gracious personality…and proving himself to be quite a gifted writer in the process, as fans were quick to point out.

“Can we just talked about how skilled you are as a writer, and how your voice comes through so powerfully? And how you are so captivating and funny?! 👏👏👏” one commenter wrote, with a second adding, “What a beautiful tribute to Genie you have written Jim. Your talents are endless 💙💙.”

“What a beautiful story and tribute you almost make me feel like I was there and feeling the feelings you were feeling beautiful, writing, beautiful expression for the love of tennis😊👍👍 ,” someone else raved.

“Whenever Jim writes something, I hear Sheldon’s voice while reading it! 🙂 Sheldon is my most favorite character ever and I’m happy to hear that Jim, just like me adores tennis,” another person chimed in.

As it turns out, Bouchard has plenty of admiration for Parsons, too. In 2014 — when the pic in Parsons’ Instagram post was taken — Bouchard told Yahoo! Sports that Sheldon was her “favorite character.”

“So it’s amazing that he’s a fan of me ’cause I’m like the biggest fan of him,” she said.
