Netflix just dropped its new show, Ransom Canyon, on Thursday, April 17, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the hottest new binge watches of spring 2025. The show stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly as old friends who went to high school together navigating life as adults after love, loss, and everything in between.
It’s only been three days, and people are hooked. Like, beyond hooked. This begs the question, will there be a Ransom Canyon Season 2? The possibility has fans of the show on the edge of their seats for sure, and people don’t even want to consider that it won’t make a Netflix return. They’re practically begging for it.
Viewers on social media are describing the series as a cross between Virgin River and Yellowstone, which honestly couldn’t be more accurate. Duhamel and Kelly’s characters, Staten Kirkland and Quinn O’Grady, have a similar dynamic to Virgin River‘s Mel and Jack, and then the plot also revolves around Texas ranchers trying to fight for their land and stop big development from taking over, a la Yellowstone.
Without giving away too many show spoilers, the main storylines include the budding romance/sexual tension between Staten and Quinn — as Staten tries to process the untimely death of his teenage son one year prior. There’s also a lot of mystery surrounding his son’s passing, which builds as the season goes on and is intertwined with other key characters.
And then there are the three families of ranchers who are vying for control of their land and protecting their way of life.
Season one ends with a major cliffhanger and plenty of unanswered questions, and it’s perfectly set up for a second season.
