What The Elsbeth Season 2 Finale Means For The Show
Tascioni Has Had A Tough Time Recently
The quirky main character is sent to jail in Elsbeth season 2, episode 19, “I’ve Got A Little List.” She’s arrested for harassing a witness. Although she believes the charges will be easy to dismiss, she’s unlucky enough to appear before a judge with an ax to grind. He is angry at Elsbeth for her ostensible involvement in the death of the villainous Judge Milton Crawford (Michael Emerson), though she’s innocent of the crime. She learns at the end of the episode that she’s being transferred to the same jail that houses many of the criminals she investigated.
In the season 2 finale, Elsbeth will look into a death among the previously high-class inmates while her colleagues fight to have her released. It’s the second time that the CBS show will do a musical number inspired by Chicago, as this latest turn is inspired by the seminal musical’s “Cell Block Tango.” It is a bit of levity, with Elsbeth struggling with the death of Judge Crawford and breaking down in tears during episode 19.
The musical interlude will lean back into the version of Tascioni viewers have enjoyed, stretching back to her time on The Good Wife and The Good Fight. And lucky for the former Chicago lawyer, most of the Elsbeth characters that she’s put behind bars are fond of her, so it may not be a terrible stint overall.
Our Take On The Elsbeth Season 2 Finale
What A Guest Cast
One of the strongest reasons to recommend Elsbeth is its roster of guest actors who show up for an episode, many of whom have Broadway experience, including Tony winner André De Shields, Moyer, Moayed, and Milano. Putting them all together really drives the point home. But the season 2 finale will also have to see executive producer and showrunner Jonathan Tolins address the exit of Carra Patterson as Officer Kaya Blanke in a main cast capacity.
