The Dick Wolf world and the Hatosys are forming an even stronger bond in the upcoming season of Chicago Med. Following Shawn Hatosy’s stint as Deputy Chief Reid in Chicago P.D. Season 13, the next role for a Hatosy family member has been cast in the Season 11 premiere of the show’s medical counterpart. A new report reveals that Cassius Hatosy, Shawn’s son, will appear in the premiere episode airing on October 1. He plays “19-year-old Hudson Collins, a patient who finds himself in Med for treatment of a badly injured leg as a result of a building collapse at an all-night rave.” However, there is more to the teenager than meets the eye, and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) tries to determine what mental or emotional issue might be at play with Hudson.
Details about Chicago Med Season 11 are not out yet, but fans should prepare themselves for a momentous homecoming with the recent news of Nick Gehlfuss’ upcoming return. The actor played Will Halstead, the chaotic doctor who kept everyone on their toes and occasionally clashed with other doctors. How will this return, however long it lasts, affect Charles as he deals with his own issues? How will Halstead’s return factor into Dr. Asher’s (Jessy Schram) current drama with Ripley (Luke Mitchell) and Archer (Steven Weber)?
Shawn Hatosy Was a Highlight in ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 12
From Animal Kingdom to Dexter and The Pitt, Hatosy has been a constant presence in the television landscape. His appearance in Chicago P.D. Season 12 as Intelligence’s kryptonite was a welcome development as he kept Voight (Jason Beghe) and his team on their toes throughout the season. “It was just nice to be there alongside [Jason Beghe], trying to annoy him, because he’s got this unmoving face. No, we had a lot of fun. I was really excited to share scenes with him, and seeing how somebody who’s been playing a character for that long is still excited about the process, working hard, and figuring out how to make it real. It was a joy,” Hatosy said in an interview about his experience on the Chicago P.D. set.
His character won’t return in Season 13 after he was killed off, but the impact of Reid’s actions might linger beyond the season finale. There is still an IA case open against the unit, which doesn’t bode well for them. Showrunner Gwen Sigan did not reveal how much the season intends to advance the investigation, but whatever happens, Voight has learned a valuable lesson. “It’s one of those things that is going to haunt him a little bit. And we’ve seen that he’s become a bit more self-reflective, whether he wants to admit that or not,” the showrunner said.
